Nalsar gets a new Vice Chancellor Prof Faizan Mustafa of NLUO to become next Nalsar VC

The Hyderabad based Nalsar, which has been in the news allegations of sexual assault and mismanagement, is now set to get a new Vice Chancellor in the form of Professor Faizan Mustafa. Mustafa has been the Vice Chancellor of the National Law Univerisity Orissa at Cuttack since its formation in 2009. Before this, Mustafa had been the head of the KIIT Law School in Bhubneshwar..Speaking to Bar & Bench, Mustafa said that it was too early to discuss his future plans at Nalsar although he did say that he was looking forward to the “challenge”. Admitting that he “felt bad” at the thought of leaving NLUO, Mustafa reiterated that his relationship with NLUO students would remain like one between father and child. Mustafa also clarified that his term at NLUO was to end in April 2012 and he had already initiated the process for appointing a replacement..Mustafa also told Bar & Bench that he was aware that people would question his decision to move from one institution to another rather than remain in one place. However, he had had his own set of compulsions to leave KIIT Law School and now NLUO and stressed that he would always continue to take a keen interest in students from both institutions..Currently in Delhi on work, Mustafa said that first he would like to speak to the students at NLUO as well as his employer (Aligarh Muslim University) before revealing his future plans..(Associate Editor Anuj Agrawal spoke to Professor Mustafa a few weeks back.
