Not one Scheduled Tribe candidate appointed as Law Professor in Tamil Nadu, Madras HC expresses shockApril 11 2019
The Madras High Court recently expressed its shock at the dire under-representation of the Scheduled Tribe community in faculty appointments at government law colleges.
In an order passed last week, Justice SM Subramaniam highlighted the issue, observing,
"It is disheartening to record that the University authorities including the Syndicate failed to notice that not even a single Scheduled Tribe candidate is appointed as Law Professor across the State of Tamil Nadu after independence.
