After a midnight hearing, the High Court yesterday granted interim relief to Karti Chidambaram, son for former Union Minister P Chidambaram, against an arrest warrant issued by the Income Tax Department last night..Justice AD Jagdish Chandira granted Karti Chidambaram protection from arrest till June 28, following the plea against an arrest warrant issued by the IT department yesterday night at around 9 pm..The issue pertains to summons issued by the IT department under the Black Money Act, directing the personal appearance of Karti Chidambaram. The warrant was issued after Karti failed to appear in relation to the same..The arrest warrant was issued shortly before Karti was due to leave for London today morning..Challenging the same, Karti approached the Chief Justice through his counsel Senior Advocates ARL Sunderesan and Satish Parasaran around 11 pm yesterday. The Chief Justice allowed him to move the plea before Justice Jagdish Chandira who proceeded to grant him interim protection..Following the same, it appears that Karti Chidambaram has departed for London as scheduled. He tweeted:
