#FakeJobs: Madras HC takes note as sitting judge gets dubious job offers

The Madras High Court has taken suo motu cognizance of a racket involving fake jobs in the state. A vacation bench of Justices N Kirubakaran and S Vaidyanathan passed interim orders on the matter yesterday, after due intimation to Chief Justice Indira Banerjee..The matter came to light after Justice Vaidyanathan was contacted by as many as five placement agencies with dubious offers for personal interviews and job appointments. The order starts off by noting,.“The respondents 11 to 15 are so powerful and capable of giving appointment order to even a sitting High Court Judge….It appears from the communication by the so-called companies…that they are trying to play fraud on the young aspiring students inducing them to pay money to get a job. It appears to be a scam. We are surprised as to how the address of one of us (S. Vaidyanathan, J) is made available to these persons as one of us has received the communications.”.The Court opined that a stringent view will have to be taken if it is found that such details are being collected by such fake companies from private operators..The five companies – Volvo Industrial Recruitment, Renal Industrial Recruitment, Diamond Industrial Recruitment, Airtech Solution HRD and Reliance Industrial Recruitment – have been impleaded as respondents. The companies were found to be charging amounts ranging from Rs. 250-750 as “Registration Charges”..Further, the contact information provided in the communications was found to be fake. One such number was found to be belonging to a student candidate, who was intimated that he had been given an appointment letter under the seal of a Union Ministry as well as the State Government, for a clerk position with a monthly salary of Rs 26, 500. It was observed that,.“These kinds of fake companies and farce interview letters are being sent, as the Government has not created any avenue of employment in the State of Tamil Nadu.”.Notice has been issued to nodal agencies of the Union Government as well as police authorities to address the following queries:.(i) How many interview cards have been sent by the impleaded companies?.(ii) Details regarding the money collected from targeted candidates between 01.10.2017 and 03.10.2017..(iii) How many persons are involved in the above conduct of fake interview?.(iv) How have the Emblems of the Government of India and the Government of Tamil Nadu been surreptitiously used by the respondent-companies?.(v) Are there any previous antecedents of such similar fake interviews being conducted?.(vi) Whether such fake interviews are part of a wider network and include the involvement of cyber crime under the relevant provisions of laws, to defraud people throughout the nation?.Public Prosecutor Raja Rathinam has submitted that a probe will be initiated into the matter to discern how the respondents were able to obtain the address of Justice Vaidyanathan..The matter has been posted to be heard next on October 13.
