Justice Huluvadi G Ramesh of the Madras High Court launched the official Madras Bar Association (MBA) application yesterday at the MBA premises. The app is freely available for members of the Madras Bar on both Android and iOS platforms..President of the Madras Bar Association and Advocate General for Tamil Nadu Vijay Narayan remarked on the utility of the app, given his experience of using it before the launch. He also plans to propose that a similar app be launched for the State Bar Council..Following the official launch, Justice Ramesh appreciated the initiative in using such technology along the lines of applications being used at the Supreme Court. He remarked that the app would be useful for lawyers across the state..The free MBA app facilitates easy access to information concerning the Madras Bar including details of officer bearers (past and present), details of members, galleries of MBA events etc. Members will also be sent the causelists of the Madras High Court in pdf format. Links are also provided to the causelists of tribunals as well as other High Courts in the country. The app will have links to show the Display Board of the Court as well as the official Court Calendar..Apart from this free version, members can also link the app to the Libra app for a subscription fee, which comes with more personalised facilities. There are varying subscription plans for the Libra app, apart from a free trial version..With the Libra app, members can avail Digital Office facilities, by which the subscriber can digitise all case related documents, effectively eliminating the need for a court diary. At a higher priced Libra app subscription, members are given access to a digital library including judgments, headnotes to judgments, a Ministry of Corporate Affairs database, information related to trademarks, patents etc..A Vakilsearch team was present at the launch to give a brief about the app, address questions and help members download and navigate the app. The app was designed to be simple enough to be used by anyone, whether tech savvy or not.
