Pursuant to Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi’s endeavour to streamline listing of fresh matters in the Supreme Court, new rules regarding the same have been notified..With effect from February 4, fresh matters will listed on Mondays and Fridays within a maximum time frame of one week of mentioning. The notification states,.“fresh matters verified on Friday in the post-lunch session, Saturday, Monday and Tuesday in the pre-lunch session i.e. upto 1:00 P.M. shall be listed on Friday in the same week and those verified on Tuesday in the post-lunch session, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in the pre-lunch session i.e. upto 1:00 P.M. be listed on Monday in the next week.”.Further, the causelist for Monday shall be published on Friday of the previous week, and the causelist for Friday shall be published on Tuesday of the same week..The notice also states that fresh matters mentioned from Monday to Thursday this week, and during the pre-lunch session on Friday, shall be listed on Monday, February 4, in chronological order..Last week, CJI Gogoi stated in open court that fresh cases will be listed within four or five days of filing..Shortly after he took charge as Chief Justice of India, Gogoi J. made it clear that mentioning of matters in the Supreme Court will be on hold till parameters relating to the process are worked out..CJI Gogoi has, on multiple occasions, rebuked the Bar for making indiscriminate requests during mentioning for early listing of cases..Read the notice:
