Aman Lekhi, Vikramjit Banerjee, Sandeep Sethi appointed ASG; Four ASGs get extension

Senior Advocates Aman Lekhi, Vikramjit Banerjee and Sandeep Sethi have been confirmed for appointment as Additional Solicitor General (ASG) for Supreme Court.

Senior Advocate Maninder Acharya has been appointed ASG for Delhi High Court.

The appointments committee of the Union Cabinet cleared the same today. They will serve as Additional Solicitor General till June 30, 2020.

Further, the tenures of four existing ASGs – PS Narasimha, Maninder Singh, Tushar Mehta and Pinky Anand – have been extended till June 30, 2020.

The Centre currently has five ASGs operating in the Supreme Court – the four mentioned above, and Atmaram Nadkarni.

The post of Solicitor General for India has been lying vacant for more than three months, since Senior Advocate Ranjit Kumar had resigned on October 20 last year.
