Breaking: Can legislators practice law? Supreme Court notice to BCIMarch 12 2018
The Supreme Court today issued notice to the Bar Council of India (BCI) in a petition seeking ban on MPs and MLAs from practicing law.
A Bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices AM Khanwilkar and DY Chandrachud heard Senior Counsel V Shekhar appearing for petitioner Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay and Attorney General KK Venugopal.
Venugopal told the court that a similar matter is pending before BCI but his stand on the issue was not . . .
