Water and Shark Legal LLP is looking to hire Research Associates and Senior Associates for its office in Mumbai.

Positions: 2 (Two)

PQE: 0-3 years (Research Associate); 3-4 years (Senior Associate)

Location: Mumbai

Qualification: Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) / Master of Laws (LLM)

Water and Shark is looking for talented lawyers interested in a dynamic, research, and content-driven role in the field of law, which would provide exposure to global legal practices.

The role would require candidates with a keen interest in cross-border transactional advisory services and in the laws of multiple jurisdictions, including the United States (US), United Arab Emirates (UAE), Singapore, United Kingdom (UK), and India.

We are seeking dynamic candidates who are eager to apply their knowledge, skills, and experience to assist clients in achieving their business objectives across various jurisdictions.

Job Description

Research Associate with 0-3 years of PQE

• Ability and willingness to undertake substantial research assignments, and produce high-quality content such as articles and blogs on various topics under corporate laws, employment laws, Web3, data protection, family and succession laws, anti-money laundering laws, etc.

• Staying updated on the laws and legal developments of various jurisdictions, including the United States (US), United Arab Emirates (UAE), United Kingdom (UK), Singapore, India, and other relevant jurisdictions as required. 

• Assisting in drafting legal documents, including agreements, contracts, and legal memoranda, based on research findings and under the guidance of senior team members. 

• Compiling and maintaining comprehensive legal research databases, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information is readily accessible to the team. 

• Prior exposure to global law, particularly in the United States (US), United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Singapore, is advantageous.

Senior Associates with 3-4 years of PQE

• Extensive experience in drafting and vetting definitive agreements, providing corporate advisory services, conducting cross-border restructuring, offering FEMA advisory, conducting legal due diligence, handling venture capital funding, and executing private equity deals. 

• Capability and readiness to undertake research-based assignments, generate insightful content, such as advisory reports and structure notes, and to handle legal matters in various jurisdictions, including the United States (US), United Arab Emirates (UAE), United Kingdom (UK), Singapore, and other relevant jurisdictions, as required. 

• Excellent oral and written communication skills, demonstrated leadership ability, and the capacity to work independently on complex matters required.

• Prior experience in global law, particularly in the United States (US), United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Singapore, is advantageous.
