Job Description

  • Sujata Chaudhri IP Attorneys, a mid-sized firm, located in NOIDA, is looking to strengthen its awarded and coveted trademarks and copyright practice by adding a principal associate/ partner.

  • The ideal candidate should have 8-12 years of solid law firm experience in trademarks and copyright prosecution and practice.

  • The candidate should have demonstrated experience in handling day-to-day client deliverables independently and understand clients’ business concerns and requirements. 

  • The ideal candidate must have excellent analytical and drafting skills with great attention to detail.

  • It is essential that the candidate have the skills and experience in managing, motivating and mentoring a team of lawyers (at senior associate and associate levels) and paralegals and juggle work with business development and administrative work.

  • The candidate must also be extremely energetic and have the ability to prosper in a fast-paced environment.

The position will require the candidate to be highly proficient in handling a wide spectrum of prosecution matters, including, in particular:

  • Advising on availability of a trademark for use and registration;

  • Advising on filing applications (including coverage and basis of use), overseeing filings;

  • Overseeing and strategizing prosecution of trademark applications from start to finish, including responses and show-cause hearings;

  • Overseeing progress of matters at the Registry and making sure that client matters advance at the Registry;

  • Negotiating consents and overseeing drafting of consent letters;

  • Overseeing bulk renewals of registrations;

  • Overseeing management of large trademark portfolios;

  • Advising clients on, and handling, multi-step chain of title matters;

  • Handling foreign filings, liaising with local counsel in other countries, handling other foreign prosecution work, including chain of title, consents, etc.;

  • Excellent knowledge of the Trade Marks Act, 1999;

  • Experience will prosecution of copyright matters would be a plus.
