The HRD Ministry’s attempts to improve legal education face opposition yet again, with the Law Minister now taking a stand against the HRD ministry’s initiatives regarding legal education. The Law Minister, Veerappa Moily, told reporters at a conference that while he had no objection to the HRD Ministry’s proposal to set up a Bachelor’s degree in law, reforms in current legal education came within the purview of the Law Ministry. “[…] so far as setting professional standards are concerned, it is the Law Ministry which has to consider it,” Moily said.
