Law Intern from Andaman found dead in Bengaluru after filing sexual harassment complaint against lawyers

A law intern who had recently filed a police complaint against lawyers for sexual harassment has been found dead in her paying guest accommodation at Malleswaram, Bengaluru, reports Times of India.

As per ToI, the intern who hails from Andaman & Nicobar Islands had come to Bengaluru in 2017 and was interning with Jayanth Pattenshetti Associates.

At the firm, she was assigned to work with an advocate named Chandra Naik, who introduced her to another advocate, Chetan Desai, a pleader at the Karnataka High Court.

The FIR reportedly states that both Naik and Desai “used to take her to pubs and bars and force her to consume a alcohol. They would then touch her inappropriately and sexually harass her.”

She had filed a sexual harassment complaint with the Commercial Street police on November 20.

The report further states that the PG owner has also filed a complaint regarding the death of the victim seeking a probe into the same.

Phone calls to the office of Jayanth Pattanshetti Associates went unanswered.
