JSA acts on Talgo's joint venture with Bharat Forge

Talgo formed a joint venture with Bharat Forge Infrastructure Limited to manufacture high-speed passenger trains in the Indian Railways sector.

J. Sagar Associates advised Patentes Talgo SLU (Talgo Spain) and its wholly owned subsidiary Talgo India Private Limited in its joint venture with Bharat Forge Infrastructure Limited.

The team comprised Lead Partner Vishnu Sudarsan, Partner Shashank Singh, Partner Sugandha Somani Gopal, Of-Counsel Gitanjali Balkrishna, and Junior Associate Asmita Maan.

The taxation support team comprised Partner & Head of Practice Direct Tax Kumarmanglam Vijay, Partner & Head of Practice Indirect Tax – Manish Mishra, Senior Associate Divyam Mittal and Shikha Parmar, and Associate Shiv Singhal.

The collaboration is significant as it comes amidst the backdrop of the Ministry of Railways (MoR) tender for the manufacturing and maintenance of 100 new generation light weight energy-efficient trains.

The JV is expected to address upcoming large business opportunities in the Indian railways sector and tap the expanding domestic requirements within the Make in India program, as well as the push towards energy efficient and environmentally friendly technologies.

The JV will focus on setting-up manufacturing, maintenance, and life cycle support hub for new generation, energy efficient, lightweight aluminium high-speed railway trains.
