The elections that are scheduled for Friday this week have been a hot topic of discussion for months now..The campaigning for the upcoming elections had begun in full flow once the court reopened after the Diwali vacations. With almost 60 candidates campaigning within the court corridors, the elections have seen a fair share of drama..The polling will be done on November 18 10.00 am onwards, with a total of 17 polling booths set up within the court premises..Along with the current President, Rajiv Khosla, Senior Advocate Kirti Uppal, Advocate Sunita Bharadwaj and Sunil Goel are contesting for the post of President. Each voter is entitled to cast one vote each for the post of President, Vice President, Hony. Secretary, Treasurer, Joint Secretary and Lady Member Executive..In addition to this, each voter is also entitled two votes for Member Executive with 25 years standing and 5 votes for Member Executive..The Election Committee chaired by Senior Advocate Ravi Kant Chadha released notices yesterday explaining in detail how the votes are to be casted when the voters are in the polling booths..Any canvassing or campaigning has been prohibited for the next two days; the campaigning was wrapped up by 5.00 pm yesterdsy. The candidates and their supporters are banned from entering the polling area on the election day except for the purpose of casting their vote..Separate entrances have been set up for Senior Advocates, Senior members (those enrolled before January 1, 1976) and lady members in the polling areas. The votes can be cast till 5.00 pm in the evening on Friday.
