Justice Rammohan Reddy gave this direction while disposing of a petition against Kannada film ‘Manjunatha BA LLB’, starring Jaggesh. The judge has asked the I&B ministry to consider the plea in terms of section 6 read with rule 31 of the Cinematography Act concerning revisional power available to the central government and also the principles and guidelines enunciated under sub-section (2) of Section 5 B of the Cinematography Act, 1952.“The promo of the film shown on TV depicts the hero of the film Jaggesh playing the role of an advocate in an inebriated condition. It shows the advocate community in poor light,” MK Vijayakumar, a city advocate had claimed in his petition.During the hearing, the judge also observed that of late, films don’t depict national unity at all and further said that they can’t depict a lawyer as a ‘Devdas’.“I can’t see any good things coming. There is no message of unification at all. In Hindi films, it is Khan, Khan, Khan, Khan and Khan only.
