Karnataka High Court (finally) gets five judges including NLS grad S Sunil Dutt YadavFebruary 9 2018
One day after Bangalore lawyers suspended their hunger strike, the Centre has notified the appointment of five additional judges for Karnataka High Court.
The five new judges are:
- Dixit Krishna Shripad,
- Shankar Ganapathi Pandit,
- Ramakrishna Devdas
- Bhotanhosur Mallikarjuna Shyam Prasad,
- Siddappa Sunil Dutt Yadav
Krishna Dixit is the Additional Solicitor General of India in the Karnataka High Court, while R Devdas and BM Shyam Prasad are Senior Advocates.
S Sunil Dutt Yadav, a 1996 graduate of National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore, is the second NLSIU alumnus to be elevated to a high court, after Shekhar Bobby Saraf last year.
Last year, the Supreme Court collegium had also recommended C Saravanan to be appointed as a judge of the Madras High Court. However, his appointment is yet to be notified.
Yadav will be the first NLSIU graduate to be appointed as a judge of the Karnataka High Court.
Correction: We had erroneously reported that Sunil Dutt Yadav is the third graduate from NLS to be appointed as a judge. This error is regretted.
