Justice Bawa Singh Walia of J&K HC moves back to Punjab and Haryana HC

Justice Bawa Singh Walia of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court has been transferred  back to the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

The President, in exercise of his powers under clause (1) of article 222 and after consultation with the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir and the Chief Justice of India, has directed Justice Walia to assume charge of his office at the Punjab and Haryana High Court by October 13, 2017.

Born in Jalandhar (Punjab), Justice Walia was first elevated to the Bench as an additional judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court in 2014. In February 2015, he was transferred to the Jammu and Kashmir High Court as an additional judge and later became a permanent judge of the High Court in March, 2016.

Justice Walia is among the three judges who will likely be transferred back to their parent High Courts. The other two are Justice Shakdher and Justice Dama Seshadri Naidu.
