Justice B. Sudershan Reddy was given a farewell on Thursday by the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA). He has served the Supreme Court for a period of four-and-a-half year. Parekh, members of the SCBA, along with the members of Supreme Court staff were present at the function to bid farewell..Justice Sudershan Reddy during his initial days; enrolled as Advocate at Hyderabad with the Bar Council of Andhra Pradesh on December 27, 1971. He has practiced in Writ and Civil matters in the High Court of Andhra Pradesh. He was appointed as a permanent Judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court on May 2, 1995 and later he was appointed as Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court on December 5, 2005. Further he was elevated as a Judge of Supreme Court of India on January 12, 2007..Justice Sudershan Reddy was part of the Bench hearing the black money case. The Bench has criticised the Union Government for not acting against people having black money and also Justice Reddy few days prior to his retirement delivered a judgment; Constituting a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into black money. Hasan Ali’s interrogation by the Enforcement Directorate was made possible on the directions of this Bench..Justice Reddy was also part of the Bench that held ‘Salwa Judum’ unconstitutional. He was also part of a Bench which came out with guidelines for filing PIL’s. Central Government is not considering a legislation on these lines..Justice Reddy was also a dissenter in the Constitution Bench that decided the dispute between the Ambani brothers over gas allocation.
