The team (pictured) from Jindal Global Law School, Sonepat won the South Asia rounds for the  Oxford Price Media Moot Court Competition held at National Law University, Delhi recently. The winning team consisted of Bani Brar, Mohan Krishna, and Ronak Talati. The Best Speaker prize was awarded to Saranee Gunathilaka, University of Colombo while NLSIU picked up the Best Memorial award.

Apart from JGLS, the other teams to make it to the international rounds of the competition are those from NUJS, Kolkata (the overall Runners-up), Amity Law School, Delhi, the University of Colombo and the Lahore University of Management Sciences.

As for the allegations of an “unethical leak” that “forced” the NLUD team to opt out of the competition, the e-mailed statement provided by NLUD stated that,

“It was found that the team had unauthorised access to materials from last year’s (2012) competition and that this was technically a violation of the rules of the Competition. Therefore, the NLU Delhi team was not a part of this year’s South Asia Rounds.”

Last year, NLU Delhi had won the South Asia qualifying rounds with NALSAR, Hyderabad picking up the winning trophy at the international round.
