In a new episode of Soulful Conversations with Bithika Anand, the host speaks to Saraf & Partners Founder & Managing Partner Mohit Saraf..[Watch the video interview].The new show hosted by Bithika Anand features stalwarts of the legal profession and makes an attempt to explore the person behind the lawyer.In the show's newest episode, Saraf speaks of impactful moments, what influenced him, how he spends his free time, spirituality, building a new firm and more. .Saraf recalled an experience that taught him the importance of being well-put-together in one’s appearance as a lawyer. “What it showed is.. Even if I made a lot of sense on the phone, the client was very happy with me, but when he saw me physically, he just could not relate because I looked much younger and was very informally dressed. Therefore, it changed the way I looked at the legal profession”, he explained. .He also shared that he learnt what not to do from everyone he worked with.“I have made a lot of do not do lists.. I do whatever I feel like doing, but what not to do I’ve learnt from a lot of people.”.He went on to say that he spends any time he can with his thirteen-year-old daughter, describing her as “the best thing that ever happened to him”. Apart from that, he said that he reads a lot about economics, business and companies. .Disclosing his views on spirituality, Saraf said that he was a believer in supernatural power explaining that it helps and guides him. However, he was not extremely religious. .Also speaking about his journey of building a new firm, he said that he wanted to start a firm that everyone could call theirs. “The firm should outlive me. Everyone that is a performer should be able to run the firm, should be able to do decision-making an benefit. Therefore, if you look at the amount of people who are moving from one firm into the other. This is more like a trend, people are going to a firm where they are not second class citizens.”He added that the Indian legal world was “feudal”, and after seventy-five years of independence, the profession was also becoming independent. .Shedding light on the change he sees in the new generation of lawyers, he said that earlier lawyers were very feudal in their thinking in contrast with young lawyers today.“If a senior is saying something, they will not say anything else not challenge, not argue. The new generation lawyer are very smart, very hardworking.
