Internet content may finally be regulated Madras HC issues notice on anti-obscenity PIL

A Madras High Court Bench comprising Chief Justice H.L. Gokhale and Justice D. Murugesan has issued notice on a PIL filed by Advocate R. Karthikeyan seeking the appointment of a regulatory body by the Centre to filter obscene and pornographic material from the internet. The petition alleges that the Centre has been lackadaisical about pulling up Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and search engines who violate their license terms by freely disseminating obscene content.
