Indigo legal team, L&S, Gibson Dunn act as $20 billion deal for CFM jet engines takes off

Indigo has ordered jet engines worth $20 billion from CFM International, a joint venture of General Electric Co. and France’s Safran SA, to power 280 Airbus A320neo and A321neo aircrafts operated by it..IndiGo’s in-house team worked on this deal along with Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan and Gibson Dunn..The Indigo in-house team included General Counsel Priya Mehra, Associate General Counsel – Sarah Rufus and Zubin Masani, Principal Legal Counsel – Joydeep Sarkar and Ankita Kumar, Senior Legal Counsel Navneet Anand..The L&S team mostly advised on tax issues and worked under the overall supervision and guidance of Managing Partner V Lakshmikumaran, along with Principal Partner N Mathivanan, Executive Partner Sudish Sharma (Corporate Advisory) and Partner Kapil Sharma (Indirect Tax Advisory). Other team members included Joint Partner Tushar Agarwal (Indirect Tax Advisory) and Senior Associate Anantha Desikan (Corporate Advisory)..Gibson Dunn advised Indigo on US law perspective and the team was led by Partner David Wilf..CFM International was advised by its in-house team..The airline, operated by InterGlobe Aviation Ltd, currently has a fleet of over 230 aircraft consisting of Airbus A320, Airbus A320neo and Airbus A321 planes..The airline will add 53 narrow body aircraft, including 15 Airbus A321, during the current fiscal year, apart from taking delivery of 11 ATR aircraft, reported Mint.
