It now stands as a charitable trust constituted by eminent personalities like Prof. Shamnad Basheer (Ministry of HRD Chair Professor at NUJS), Justice Ruma Pal and Prof. M. P Singh..The gradual advances that have been brought about by the initiatives of IDIA have been the reason for generating a sense of pride and happiness among many, be it the volunteers who have been constantly in action to make the project a success, or the scholars who have been able to give a new direction to their lives, starring in their own success stories. These stories are a reflection of the inspiration, determination and hard work which has gone into forming this initiative..While the student volunteers of IDIA have been working harder by the day, travelling to local schools in under developed areas, spreading awareness about the program, and helping students to prepare for the entrance examinations, the scholars also have never disappointed, grabbing the opportunity with determination backed by hard work. Be it Donnie Ashok, who literally and metaphorically rose from the ashes to ace CLAT and secure a seat at GNLU, or Thangminlal Haokip, who hails from the village of L. Gamnom in Manipur where his father runs a small general store, or Yugal Jain, a visually impaired student hailing from an economically backward family, or Karthika Annamalai, who burned the midnight oil to secure a seat in NUJS, Kolkata, struggling with the monetary condition of her mother who is a quarry worker..Names are many, and so are the success stories behind them. However, the efforts put in the program face a critical challenge now to sustain these scholars through the law schools and further their dreams and ambitions. This challenge is the grave shortage of funds with the IDIA. While the deadline to pay the university fees that is June 9, 2012 is fast approaching, the IDIA is struggling to raise the money required to save the hard earned seats of its scholars. In the past, generous contributions from various donors have played a key role in the sustenance and furtherance of the dreams of many such scholars.
