2007 Hyderabad Blasts: Trial Court convicts two, acquits two

A trial court has found two individuals who are allegedly members of the Indian Mujahideen guilty for their role in the 2007 Hyderabad blasts that rocked the city 11 years ago..As per the order passed by Special Judge Srinivas Rao, Anique Shafeeq Sayeed and Akbar Ismail Choudhary have been convicted, while two others – Farooq Sharfuddin Tarkish and Mohd Sadiq Israr Shaiq – have been acquitted..The case of Mohd Tariq Anjum, who allegedly gave shelter to the four accused, will be considered on Monday..The Bhatkal brothers – Yasin and Riyaz – who allegedly had links to the Hyderabad blasts as well as others, are currently absconding..The blasts which occurred at Lumbini Park and Gokul Chat, a popular eatery in the city’s Koti area, left over 40 people dead and more than 50 suffered injuries..Charges were framed against the aforementioned in 2013. They were charged with murder, criminal conspiracy, and under various provisions of the Explosive Substances Act..The trail was shifted to a temporary courthouse inside the premises of the Cherlapalli Jail, from the Nampally Court Complex, for security reasons..More than 150 eyewitnesses took the stand during the trial.
