HNLU conducting Round Table Conference on Refugee Convention Abstracts to be submitted by September 15 2012

The Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur (HNLU) shall be convening a Round Table Conference on the Refugee Convention from October 6-7, 2012. The conference will see discussions by a number of panellists including Jayshree Satpute (HRLN), Prof. BC Nirmal (Dean of Law School, BHU) and Prof. Manoj Kumar Sinha (WBNUJS)..As per the press release, “…the agendas that would be discussed include the International Framework on Refugee Law, the ground realities of refugees worldwide and finally, India’s reservations to the Refugee convention.” The conference seeks to encourage discussion with respect to “…direction that India is required to take with regard to its position on the International Refugee Law framework.” The last date of submission of the abstracts is 15th September, 2012..The conference will be split into three sessions with the first session including an interaction between law students and resource persons from UNHRC and International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on the current international legal framework for refugees. The second session will have a discussion between student delegates and panelists on the practical lacunae in the international legal framework as well as inadequacies of the Indian mechanism.
