Retired Supreme Court judge, Justice RV Raveendran has turned down the request to oversee the investigation by National Investigation Agency in the Hadiya case, reports The Indian Express..“It is a matter between the court and myself,’’ Raveendran J. is reported to have said while confirming that he has turned down the request..The NIA will now approach the Supreme Court for further directions in this regard..The Supreme Court, on August 16, had ordered an NIA probe into the Hadiya case. It had also tasked Justice Raveendran to oversee the probe in order to ensure that the investigation is fair..Justice Raveendran’s entitlements prescribed by the Court for his assistance had raised some eyebrows..He was to receive a consolidated fee of Rs. 1,00,000 for a sitting with National Investigation Agency at Bangalore, and Rs. 2,00,000 per day for travelling outside Bangalore, apart from reimbursement of all travelling, boarding, lodging and secretarial expenses, while discharging the responsibility entrusted to him..Image taken from here.
