Speaking at a function organised by the Society of Indian Law Firms, Law and Justice Minister Ashwani Kumar said that the government is in the process of empanelling law firms for matters involving international arbitrations. The Minister also asked Indian law firms to “come forward to serve the nation”.

As per this report, the Minister said:
“I am more interested that our own law firms which are second to none to come forward and get empanelled…. I would encourage our own firms to come forward and do the job. There is a great need of international quality of legal service.”
The Minister also stated that the Judicial Accountability Bill would be presented before the House for discussions in the current Parliamentary session. He further revealed that the Law Commission of India had been asked to study election reforms. The Law Commission of India is being headed by former Supreme Court Judge, DK Jain.
