Gauhati HC offers services of Private Secretary, Car, Peon to CJI Ranjan Gogoi after retirement

A Full Court resolution has been passed by the Gauhati High Court extending the services of a dedicated Private Secretary, peon and a chauffeur-driven vehicle to Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi after his retirement..The resolution was passed by the Full Court pursuant to the proposal made by the Protocol Committee of the High Court..The proposal by Protocol Committee states that CJI Ranjan Gogoi is likely to settle down in Gauhati after retirement and“it is a matter of great honour and privilege for this High court that an Advocate, who had practiced here, has been elevated to the highest office of the Judiciary in the country….”.Thus, considering the “unique accomplishment of His Lordship”, the Protocol Committee proposed to extend facilities to Justice Gogoi as an “institutional courtesy”..“Thus, as an Institutional Courtesy, the Protocol committee of the High Court proposes that the following facilities be provided to My Lord Justice Gogoi and Madam Rupanjali Gogoi.”.The following were the proposals made by the Protocol Committee, which have now been accepted by the Full Court:.A dedicated Private Secretary to look after the day to day requirements of the CJI Ranjan Gogoi and madam. The Private Secretary, in addition to discharging other responsibilities that may be entrusted to him, may coordinate with the Registry for any protocol-related requirements;.One Grade IV Peon and one Bungalow Peon to be made available by the High Court to serve at the Guwahati residence of His Lordship;.A chauffeur-driven vehicle belonging to the High Court in good condition to be made available to His Lordship on fuel basis as and when required;.A Nodal Officer to be identified from the Registry to coordinate with the Private Secretary..CJI Ranjan Gogoi will retire from Supreme Court on November 17.
