The Court fears that she may misuse her passport for aiding and abetting criminal activities..In other news, Abu Salem has moved the Supreme Court of Portugal against fresh charges that have been imposed under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act. He alleges that imposing these charges are in violation of the extradition agreement..The Delhi High Court has upheld the decision of the Central Government in denying a passport to Haseena Ibrahim Parker (left), Dawood Ibrahim’s sister. Justice Ravindra Bhat held, “[…] she may travel abroad and misuse her passport for aiding and abetting criminal activities”. While counsels Sanjeev Kumar Dubey and Deepak Kumar appeared for the Central Government, Bahar U. Barqui, appeared for Haseena. Bahar U. Barqui is also one of the lawyers representing Babri Masjid, before the Liberhan Commission..In another case, Abu Salem (right) has approached the Supreme Court of Portugal against fresh charges that have been imposed under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). He alleges that the imposition of fresh charges are in violation of the commitment given to Portuguese authorities at the time of Salem’s extradition in November 2005..The kingpin’s lawyer, Arvind Shukla, said, “New Delhi gave a commitment to Portugal that no fresh charges will be filed against Abu Salem after his extradition to India.” India has already assured the Portugal that Salem will not be sentenced to death..Previously, Abu Salem was represented by senior criminal lawyer, Ashok Sarogi, who had expressed interest in representing Ajmal Kasab, one of the accused in the November Bombay attacks. Ashok Sarogi later withdrew from representing Kasab, after Shiv Sainiks protested against his representation.
