Friday Group celebrates three years of Academic Vibrancy

The Friday group, an academic group of Supreme Court lawyers, completed three years of its existence on July 10. A celebratory function was held on Friday, July 13 to mark the occasion. It was started on July 10, 2015, with Advocate G Seshagiri Rao at the helm managing its affairs. The group is active on Whatsapp and meets every Friday at the Supreme Court with a Senior Advocate or a legal luminary giving a lecture on a topic of contemporaneous relevance..The group has completed 83 meetings, holding academic discussions on various subjects ranging from Criminal Justice system, Juvenile Justice laws and Death Penalty to Arbitration, Competition Law and even Cyber Laws in India..Justice Indu Malhotra, who was elevated as a Judge of the Supreme Court directly from the Bar, was also an active participant of the Friday Group and had spoken on the topic ‘Bilateral Treaty of Arbitration’, before her elevation to the Bench..The celebratory function held on July 13 was attended by Senior Advocates R Basant, Karpaga Vinayagam, RS Suri, PH Parekh, V Mohana and KV Viswanathan among others.
