Former High Court Chief Justice, B Subhashan Reddy passes away

Former Chief Justice of the Madras and Kerala High Courts, Justice B Subhashan Reddy passed away this morning. It is reported that he passed away at AIG Hospital in Gachibowli, Hyderabad, where he had been undergoing treatment for a month.

Justice Subhashan Reddy was born in 1943. He enrolled as an Advocate in January 1966. His areas of practice included Constitutional, Civil, Criminal, Revenue and Taxation laws. He also practiced in the Supreme Court of India.

He was appointed a judge of the (then undivided) Andhra Pradesh High Court in November 1991. In September 2001, he was elevated as the Chief Justice of the Madras High Court. He was transferred to take the mantle as the Kerala High Court’s Chief Justice in November 2004. He retired in March 2005. 

Following his retirement, he went on to become the Chairperson of the Andhra Pradesh State Human Rights Commission in August 2005. He has also served as an Andhra Pradesh Lokayukta, to which post he was appointed in 2012 for a five-year term.
