The office is headquartered in Delhi with a core presence in London..Ajit resigned from Fox Mandal on September 26, 2012 to set up his own law firm, which has now entered into a mutual referral agreement with UK Headquartered law firm Wragge & Co LLP..Speaking to Bar & Bench, Ajit said, “The law firm is at a very early stage. We are in the process of finding the right way to move forward with City Law Practice”..He added, “I will be dividing my time between India and London, spending majority of my time in India. I am looking forward to a long standing relationship with Wragge & Co.”.Bar & Bench also spoke to Wragge & Co India Practice Head Baljit Chohan regarding the affiliation agreement signed between City Law Practice and Wragge & Co. Baljit said, “We have been developing a client base of Indian corporates for the last 3-4 years. We act for number of European clients and US clients advising them on how to best invest in the Indian market. So what we were looking at, since we are not a magic circle law firm and we do not have the resources to go and do something like what Allen & Overy did with Trilegal, we wanted to have a more permanent presence on the ground.”.“And coincidentally Ajit was looking at his future career plans. We know Ajit for more than 3-4 years now and have a huge amount of respect for him. Ajit essentially wanted to set up his own legal practice in India and we thought that it would be a great opportunity to be able to continue to work with him. We were very keen to support him and also keen that he would support our India plans. So, we entered into an affiliation agreement with City Law Practice”, said Baljit..Baljit added, “Hopefully this relationship will enable us to better service our European and US clients and get us more exposure to Indian corporates and we will also be able to assist City law Practice in similar way.”.Talking about investor sentiments, Baljit said, “Both European and US businesses are extremely keen to invest into India probably more so from Europe than US simply because of the stagnant European economy”..Wragge & Co has about 12 partners across the UK and Paris who are part of the India practice group.
