Former Chief Justice of India, RM Lodha has filed a complaint with the Delhi Police stating that he was duped of Rs. 1 lakh by an imposter, reports The Indian Express..As per the complaint, the person who duped him, hacked into the email id of another former Supreme Court judge, Justice BP Singh who is a friend of Justice Lodha..He then demanded Rs. 1 lakh for medical treatment which Justice Lodha transferred to an account only to realise later that Justice Singh’s email account had been hacked..A case has been registered under Section 420 of IPC at Malviya Nagar police station..As per the FIR,.“I have been regularly corresponding with Justice BP Singh on arbitration matters. In the said email, I was requested for some urgent help and got back to him on email, as he was unavailable over the phone. When I responded via email asking him to tell me what the matter was, I received another email stating that his cousin was suffering from acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.”.The mail asked RM Lodha J to send Rs. 1 lakh to bank account which was stated to be an account of a surgeon..Justice Lodha obliged and transferred Rs 1 lakh in two installments of Rs 50,000 each to an account held by a man named Dinesh Bali..Later, he realised that his friend’s email has been hacked whereupon he approached the police..Earlier this year, an impersonator had telephoned two High Court Chief Justices claiming that he is the Chief Justice of India, Ranjan Gogoi..The imposter then sought from the two High Court Chief Justices, names of certain advocates for elevation as judges of High Courts..The calls were made to Telangana High Court Chief Justice Thottathil B Radhakrishnan and Karnataka High Court Chief Justice L Narayana Swamy..As per the report, the imposter hacked into the Supreme Court’s Electronic Private Branch Exchange (EPBX) System and made calls from a mobile phone..The fraud came to light during the conversation between Ranjan Gogoi J. and the two High Court Chief Justices.
