Economic Reservation: Parliament passes Constitution (124th Amendment) Bill, 2019January 9 2019
In a major development, the Parliament today passed The Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty-Fourth Amendment) Bill, 2019 aiming to introduce a ten percent reservation for those belonging to economically weaker sections of society.
The Bill was passed in the Rajya Sabha today with 165 MPs voting for the Bill and 7 voting against it. It had already been passed by Lok Sabha yesterday.
