SPOCULIT, the inter-collegiate fest organized by Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University , Lucknow (RMLNLU) is entering its 3rd edition. The sport, cultural and literary fest shall be held over three days from March 14 – 16, 2012..Initiated in 2010, SPOCULIT has become a youth festival which not only attracts students of law but other streams as well. The organisers of SPOCULIT 2012 intend to have 700-800 participants from 35 universities and colleges from across the country..“The event is a prism where students find an array of events and activities to participate. SPOCULIT is undoubtedly one of the most sought after law school fests around the country.” says Namit Saxena, the student in- charge for the fest..When asked about the theme of this year’s fest (“the 90’s”), Saxena explains that “The decade belonged to us. We did not have Play stations, 99 television stations, flat screens, surround sound, mp3s, iPods, computers and the Internet, but nevertheless we had a great time! The theme has been kept to remind every college going student of the golden era of the 90’s.”.Saxena further elaborates that, “SPOCULIT, 2012 has something for everyone. Ranging from a variety of literary events like parliamentary debate, panel discussion, short film making competition, kavi sammelan featuring stalwarts like ‘Gopal Das ‘NEERAJ’ to a plethora of indoor and outdoor sports events.”. There is even a competition for “live” journalism called “The Fourth Estate”, something they are trying for the first time. In terms of cultural activities, Saxena states that there will be “..events involving theatre, Indian and Western dance competitions as well as Indian and western music events.”.Prateek Srivastava a final year student at RMLNLU recalls how that the spirit of SPOCILIT has strengthened over the years. “The innovative themes, ranging from ‘Lucknow’ to the “Decade of ‘90’s” have been able to attract participation in huge numbers. Although other law schools do organize similar fests SPOCULIT is unique in the sense that it encompasses literary, sports and cultural events.”..“The students of RMLNLU welcome all with a contagious smile and the hospitality on offer is addictive. I expect the event this year to be a cut above the rest.”, he adds. The registration fee for the whole fest is Rs. 600/- per participant which includes boarding and lodging, with a maximum of 50 students per college. The last date for registration is 7th March 2012 although on- spot registrations shall also be allowed this year..For further details on registration click here.
