Taking a note of the grim situation in the National Capital due to Air Pollution, the Supreme Court today urged the authorities to find a solution while remarking that people cannot be forced to remain indoors due to the same..Hearing a case relating to air pollution, Justice Madan B Lokur who was presiding the Bench remarked in the presence of Additional Solicitor General, Atmaram Nadkarni:.“Everyday in newspaper etc we see, don’t take a walk outside. But can you tell that to a rickshaw puller in Old Delhi? Go to Old Delhi. The degree of exertion a rickshaw puller there has to put in is much more than those who take a walk in Lodi Gardens. But we cannot tell them not to work..It is their livelihood; They will say ‘we would rather die of pollution than hunger'”. .The Court also proceeded to order that Petrol vehicles which are more than 15 years’ old and Diesel vehicles which are more than 10-years old should not ply in Delhi-NCR..The Supreme court has been seized of various cases relating to Delhi pollution.
