However, the CBI had not shown even a single statement by any FIPB official regarding the said dealing..Sibal also stated that the CBI was now focusing on the allegation that Karti has amassed wealth abroad. He submitted that even if the said allegation is taken at face value, Chidambaram had already surrendered his passport as per direction of the High Court and he could not leave the country to tamper evidence..Singhvi listed out the grounds on which bail is denied. He said that none of the said grounds applied to Karti Chidambaram. He stated that there was no flight risk as Karti had previously been allowed to go abroad and he came back in time and fully disclosed the details of his trip. He added that Karti was fully cooperating with the authorities..Representing the CBI, ASG Tushar Mehta argued that Karti was in fact, not cooperating with the authorities,.“I am not saying that he should confess his guilt but certain basic questions needed to be answered. Nevertheless, we have made some discoveries by our own efforts and the investigation is going on.”.Mehta also stated that there is a risk that Karti might tamper with the evidence if he is granted bail. He submitted certain documents pertaining to the investigation for the perusal of the court..The Single Judge Bench of Justice SP Garg, after hearing arguments of both the parties for over an hour, reserved its order.
