A Division Bench of the Delhi High Court on Wednesday disposed of a Habeas Corpus petition filed by Vandana Gupta in relation to the whereabouts of her son Dr Suyash Gupta..The Bench of Justices S Muralidhar and IS Mehta recorded in its order that a status report had been filed by the Delhi state government – represented by advocate Rahul Mehra – detailing the intensive investigation into the whereabouts of Dr Suyash Gupta undertaken by the Sabzi Mandi police..It also stated that upon a perusal of the details of the report, it could not be shared with the petitioners at this stage..“This status report therefore be kept in a sealed cover by the Registry and not be permitted for inspection except under orders of the Court.”.Advocate Jayant Bhatt appeared for the petitioner..Dr Gupta, who has been missing since August 24 last year, is a prime suspect in an investigation into the death of a fellow doctor Shashwat Pande..Addressing the concerns of the petitioner that the status reports were merely cut-paste copies of earlier reports, and that no real progress was being made in the case, the Bench said that every possible effort was being made to find Dr Gupta. The order states,.“Having gone through the status reports presented thus far, including the one presented to it today in a sealed cover, the Court is unable to accept the above submission. The Petitioner should rest assured that every possible effort is being made by the police from all possible angles to unearth the truth.”.The Court also directed the Metropolitan Magistrate hearing the matter to list the case at least once every month to review the progress made in the investigation..The order also recorded the fact that the petitioner and her husband had refused to consent to a polygraph test in the month of January ..Read Order
