The Delhi High Court this week upheld the upper age limit prescribed by the Delhi government for nursery admissions, while disposing off two writ petitions..The petitions challenged the notification dated December 18, 2015, whereby the Directorate of Education of the government of NCT Delhi prescribed an upper age limit for admission to entry level classes i.e. pre-school, pre-primary and class 1..The Division Bench of Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C Hari Shankar reiterated its observations made on April 26, wherein it was stated that there is prima facie substance in the contention of the government that it is inadvisable to accommodate over-aged children in junior classes.
