Criminal case for Child Marriage stayed on consent by Bombay HC [Read Order]May 7 2019
The voidable nature of child marriage recently led the Bombay High Court to stay criminal proceedings initiated in 2017 by a then minor girl against her middle-aged husband for child marriage.
The Bench of Justices Ranjit More and Bharati H Dangre passed an order to this effect last week, on noting that the wife was now a major who was willing to cohabit with her husband. The order states,
