Yatin Oza’s contempt: Stay order no longer available on Supreme Court website?

Senior Advocate Yatin Oza’s letters to the Chief Justice of India on two Gujarat High Court judges seems to have ruffled quite a few feathers. After the Gujarat High Court initiated contempt proceedings against Oza, the senior counsel had appealed to the Supreme Court..The matter had initially been mentioned before Chief Justice TS Thakur for urgent hearing. The Bench had obliged and listed the matter before a Bench presided by Justice Anil R Dave. Dave had recused from the case whereupon the matter was listed before Justice Dipak Misra’s Bench..This Bench had proceeded to stay the contempt proceedings initiated by the Gujarat High Court..Strangely, the stay order passed by the Bench presided by Justice Misra on April 29 is no longer available on the website of the Supreme Court. The order was available till April 30 and had been published by Bar & Bench..However, it appears that this order has been pulled down from the Supreme Court website. The order pertaining to Justice Dave’s recusal is also not available. However, the order passed by the CJI-led Bench directing that the matter be listed, is available on the website..It is unclear whether the orders were pulled down deliberately or whether it is a technical glitch..The case is now listed for May 12, i.e Thursday this week..Meanwhile, the Gujarat High Court has kept the contempt case in abeyance pursuant to the stay by the Supreme Court.
