COMPAT stays sale of Lafarge's India assetsApril 14 2016
The COMPAT, on April 13 2016, has stayed the supplementary order passed by the Competition Commission of India (CCI) on February 2, 2016 directing the sale of Lafarge's India business.
In March last year, the Commission had granted conditional approval to the $44 billion Holcim-Lafarge merger, proposing certain modifications to the deal. The CCI directed the parties to divest 2 plants owned by Lafarge in the Eastern region, as the merger was perceived to have an appreciable adverse impact on the grey cement market in the Eastern . . .
