Collegium reiterates transfer of Justice S Venkatanarayana Bhatti to Kerala High Court

The Supreme Court Collegium has reiterated the transfer of Justice S Venkatanarayana Bhatti (Bhatt) of the Andhra Pradesh High Court to the Kerala High Court.

The proposal to transfer Justice Bhatti to Kerala High Court was first discussed and approved by the Collegium in its meeting held on January 15, 2019.

The recommendation was then reconsidered by the Collegium in its meeting held on February 19, 2019, after Justice Bhatti requested the Collegium to consider transferring him to Telangana High Court. In his representation, Justice Bhatti had expressed his willingness to go to the Kerala High Court as well.

After considering Justice Bhatti’s representation as well as other relevant factors, the Collegium reiterated its earlier recommendation.

The Collegium has carefully gone through the aforesaid representation and taken into consideration all relevant factors including his request to consider transferring him to Telangana High Court. On reconsideration, the Collegium is of the considered view that his request for transfer to Telangana High Court cannot be acceded to.”, the Collegium Resolution dated February 19, 2019 reads.

The Collegium thus reiterated its recommendation dated January 15, 2019, for transfer of Justice Bhatti to Kerala High Court.
