Collegium recommends transfer of Justice Ghandikota Sri Devi from Allahabad to Telangana HC

The Supreme Court Collegium has endorsed the transfer of Justice Ghandikota Sri Devi to the Telangana High Court from the Allahabad High Court, where she is presently serving as an additional judge.

Justice Devi, who originally hails from Andhra Pradesh, had made a request for the transfer in February this year. Acceding to the same, the Collegium has resolved to transfer Justice Devi to the Telangana High Court in the interest of better administration of justice.

Justice Ghandikota Sri Devi was appointed an Additional District and Session Judge at Jhansi in 2005. She went on to serve as a Principal Judge of the Family Court at Jhansi between 2008 and 2009. Prior to her elevation to the High Court, she also presided over special courts for CBI cases and special courts under the SC/ST Act and the Essential Commodities Act. She was appointed an additional judge of the Allahabad High Court in November 2018.

If her proposed transfer is cleared by the Central Government, the Telangana High Court will have 13 judges, including Acting Chief Justice RS Chauhan.
