The Supreme Court Collegium has reiterated its recommendation to transfer Justice MV Muralidaran from Madras High Court to Manipur High Court.
The Collegium had first recommended his transfer to Manipur High Court, by its resolution dated January 15. However, upon being requested to send a response in this regard, Justice MV Muralidaran had requested that he be retained in Madras High Court. Alternatively, he had requested for a transfer to either Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, or Orissa High Court.
The Collegium considered Justice Muralidaran’s representation and reasons stated by him for requesting against his transfer to Manipur High Court. It then decided to reiterate its recommendation to transfer him to Manipur High Court.
The Collegium has stated that after due deliberations and considering every material factor, it will not be able to accede to Justice Muralidaran’s request. The Resolution states,
“On reconsideration, the Collegium is of the considered view that it is not possible to accede to his requests. The Collegium, accordingly, reiterates its recommendation dated 15th January, 2019 for transfer of Mr. Justice M.V. Muralidaran to Manipur High Court.”
