As reported by Bar & Bench yesterday, the Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the elevation of four High Court Chief Justices, Justices MR Shah, Ajay Rastogi, Hemant Gupta and R Subhash Reddy to the Supreme Court.
The Collegium took into consideration the factors of seniority, merit and geographical representation in making the above recommendations. As noted in the resolution,
"... the Collegium has taken into consideration combined seniority on all-India basis of Chief Justices and senior puisne Judges of High Courts, apart from their merit and integrity.
