After a rather tumultuous couple of days in and around the Supreme Court, it seems that Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra and the other four senior most judges have begun talks to address the schism in the Supreme Court..According to various news reports, CJI Dipak Misra met with Justices J Chelameswar, Ranjan Gogoi, Madan Lokur and Kurian Joseph today, with a view to discussing the grievances highlighted by the four judges..Indian Express reports that the meeting was called by CJI Misra, and that another meeting will take place tomorrow..The attempts to break the ice between the members of the Supreme Court Collegium come after a delegation of the Bar Council of India and the Supreme Court Bar Association met with the judges on Sunday..In an unprecedented move, the four senior most judges held a press conference on Friday, revealing that all is not well as regards the administration of the apex court of the country..The chief gripe expressed by the quartet, it seemed, was the Chief Justice’s listing of important and sensitive matters without regard to certain “well-settled and time-honoured conventions”..Interestingly, a notice was issued the very next day announcing that a Constitution Bench will hear eight important cases starting January 17. This bench does not have any of the four dissenting judges on it.
