Centre notifies appointment of Bibhu Prasad Routray as Orissa High Court judge [Read Notification]November 7 2019
The Central Government has notified the appointment of Bibhu Prasad Routray, Judicial Officer as a judge of the Orissa High Court.
A notification issued today to this effect states,
"In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Bibhu Prasad Routray, to be a Judge of the Orissa High Court with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office."
With the appointment of Justice Routray, the working strength of the High Court will rise to 15 judges, as against a sanctioned strength of 27.
The appointment has been made pursuant to a Collegium recommendation made on October 3. At the time the Collegium had also recommended the elevation of Advocate Sanjeeb Kumar Panigrahi to the Orissa High Court Bench. However, today's notification is silent as regards the same.
