Centre initiates appointment of 2000 judges exclusively for Fast Track Courts Subordinate judiciary number to be increased to 20000

As per a report in the Times of India, the Central Government has sanctioned an amount of Rs. 80 crore for the recruitment of 2,000 judges exclusively to be used in various fast track courts across the country. On January 9, 2013 the Central Government wrote to High Courts and State governments to increase the strength of the subordinate judiciary (currently pegged at 18,000) by another 2,000 judges.
