Centre notifies appointment of Justice Hrishikesh Roy as Chief Justice of Kerala High Court

The Acting Chief Justice of Kerala High Court,  Justice Hrishikesh Roy has been appointed the Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court.

The President of India, exercising the powers conferred upon him under Article 217 (1) of the Constitution of India, today signed off on the appointment of Justice Roy effective immediately.

Justice Roy was transferred from Gauhati High Court, which is his parent High Court, to Kerala High Court on May 28 this year. Two days later, on May 30, consequent to the retirement of the then Chief Justice of Kerala High Court Antony Dominic, Justice Roy was appointed the Acting Chief Justice.

Justice Roy’s name was recommended for transfer from the Gauhati High Court to Kerala High Court in January this year which was given effect by the President of India Ram Nath Kovind’s assent in May.

Two months after assuming charge as the Acting Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court, Justice Roy will now take charge as the Chief Justice of the High Court.
